Microgeneration has the potential to meet the needs of 8% of our entire electrical needs, saving millions of Tonnes of Greenhouse gases and money.
The UK is again a leader in renewables.Microgeneration especially micro and small wind ,we lead the world in design and manufacture .In the 70's and 80's we lead the world in onshore wind power but gave it away in favour of Nuclear fission, which has proved to be a financial and environmental disaster.
Microgen includes Solar (pv and thermal),wind, hydro, biomass, chp and ground source heat pumps.
Across the country individuals, schools ,charities and businesses are installing 12m turbines(5-6KW),PV systems, wood chip boilers, ground, water or air source heat pumps and many more.
With the Introduction of the UK feed in tariff in April 2009 it is hoped take up will accelerate massively to levels seen on continent with Solar pv in Germany alone at over 100 times our installed capacity ,equating to over 1.4Gw (or equivalent to two large Coal or nuclear power stations),especially if offered at the rates shown in the Renewable energy consultation (40p/Kwh and 48p/Kwh for heat, ten years in advance, to help cover intial costs).

This link is for the very succesful Feed in tarrif scheme. Having reduced the cost of Solar pv by more than half in two years and producing 1,149.522w or 1.4GW of energy (27/04/12 to date) from clean microgeneration or put another way ,more than Sizewell B nuclear power station or 5 Wlfa nuclear power stations without the toxic waste.
